You've got to start somewhere...

What is the perfect time to start a blog? January the 6th, obviously! 

I thought it might be an interesting project (for myself, if not always for an audience) to combine my love of words with my love of baking, and document the evolution of Wendy Bakes as I start my home baking business.

I hope to share my experiences - all the way from the initial pie-in-the-sky dream stage (which spanned a significant number of years), to the research and planning stage, how I moved on to the actual start up process and hopefully take this blog with me to the heights-of-soaring-success stage.

I will talk about the choices I made and continue to make, and why I came to those decisions. I'll talk about the training I completed and hopefully my continued learning. I'll describe my experience of registering with Environmental Health and getting advice from Trading Standards. And I anticipate there will be discussion around numerous things such as pricing, purchasing, marketing, advertising, distribution...all those things which apply to a small business. This will all be muddled in with insights into what actually goes on day to day in my home kitchen - and I now see that sounds much more suggestive than I intended.  

I have no doubt there will be some disasters and calamities along the way, but hopefully they won't outweigh the gems of wisdom and wins...and if they do, I'll just pretend they happened to a friend. 

So put the kettle on, I think this blog will best be enjoyed with a cup of tea.
