My first cake stall...and other stories of diary disorganisation!

Before we get started, I should confess...I booked my first cake stall event, but then cancelled my first cake stall event!!! Don't want anyone getting to the end of this post and feeling cheated!

I really like the idea of spending a day a month baking my little heart out, and then the next day stood behind a trestle table draped with a crisp gingham cloth, groaning under the weight (the table, not me) of 100's of cupcakes, brownies and cookies, all beautifully displayed in domes and jars whilst a queue of eager customers form to taste my delicious bakes...

I think I might have been watching too many Richard Curtis films!

With great anticipation and some trepidation I booked my first Easter Fayre in the neighbouring village. I started to get very excited (and slightly nervous) collecting cake domes, thinking about all the goodies which I think might sell well, considering what packaging I might need and researching ways to display allergen advice (FYI - those teeny blackboards are more expensive than you might think). But alas...it was then that I discovered that my lovely husband has booked surprise tickets to see Peter Kaye, and I shall be in Leeds on that date! So the surprise element still stands - just the reveal was not quite as he had originally planned!

Then who would have believed it - the very same night I cancelled my stall, I got a message through Facebook from a lady who had sampled my cakes in the local deli, inviting me to hold a stall at an up-coming event she is organising! Serendipity at work right there! Checked with the husband - he has no more surprises up his sleeves and the gingham dream is back in action!

Hope my second stall is more successful than my first!
